Phosphoric diester hydrolases
Did you know?
Phosphoric monoester hydrolases (or phosphomonoesterases) are enzymes that catalyse the hydrolysis of O-P bonds by nucleophilic attack of phosphorus by cysteine residues or coordinated metal ions. They are categorized with the EC number 3.1.3. Examples include: Webdrides of phosphoric acid (Schmidt and Laskowski 1961) and, according to the Nomenclature Committee of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecu-lar Biology, they can be classified as phosphoric monoester hydrolases or phospho-monoesterases (EC 3.1.3), phosphoric diester hydrolases or phosphodiesterases

WebSHV3 encodes a novel protein with two tandemly repeated glycerophosphoryl diester phosphodiesterase-like domains and a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor, and several of its paralogs are found in Arabidopsis. Here, we report the detailed characterization of mutants of SHV3 and one of its paralogs, SVL1.
