You need to set it up with your own (or borrowed) client id. You can find settings online for transfer optimization. This made using Gdrive much more reasonable to work with. The downside is that you have to run Rclone from a command line. And it doesn’t work automatically AFAIK.

With programs like Cryptomator, Dropbox daemon will do the sync, you just have to put the encrypted files in dropbox folder. rclone + mount could replace cryptomator. Not the dropbox part.
